Friends are the secret reservoirs. Brimming full with secrets – our crush, the kiss, the date, the mishaps, the embarrassing moments, the funny stories and the list cover anything and everything. Friends are our confidence boosters. We may doubt our decisions and abilities, but our friends will never do so. At times, we gain the confidence to take risk and make huge leaps just because of the belief and trust they show.
Pyjamas, messy buns, no makeup, drool-crusted face or stinking sweat, they don’t care any of it. Truest friends have seen us in the ugliest appearances and situation of life, and they still decided to stick by. Friends come as the cure for loneliness. They are our fulltime companion in stranger’s parties, receiver of the late-night calls, a partner in the class benches and are always present by our sides.
Being with friends means having those little hints and code words for the people we dislike that only our group of friends know. Being with friends means having crazy laughs until your abs hurt. Or until you cry. Whichever comes first. Friends lend us the ears when we want to rant and whine. Away from the boundaries of age and maturity, our friends sat there and listen to the nonsense coming out of our mouth.
Friends provide us the reality check we need every now and then. They know us so well that they have the ability to predict and capture situations which we are in denial of. They bring out the harsh truth in front of us. Initially, we may fight and turn away from acceptance, but in the long run, they are always right.
The handwritten note… It’s a lost art, and such a treat to receive one. A handwritten note, even on a napkin, will make a lovely impression. When you receive the daily mail do you jump to open the handwritten envelopes first because you can’t wait to see who has written and why? Or do you hold those letters aside to savour and enjoy after you are done sorting your bills and tossing the junk mail?
Whatever your approach, you no doubt recognise the importance of the note that comes in a unique envelope with distinct handwriting and possibly a decoration or two. Indeed, in age when even birthday greetings are sent via texts, it’s a rare gift to receive a handwritten note, making it more appreciated than ever.
