Polo Seah Kok Peng is a Chef De Partie at Culinary. Polo, what does a Chef De Partie do?

My job includes checking the daily inventory and event orders for the day and assigning various tasks to my team members. I enjoy my job as I get the opportunity to cross-train in the other sections in the culinary department and learn new skills and cuisines in the process.

What are some highlights in your career?

I was promoted to my current role within five months of joining RP. I was also identified as a high potential employee last year.

I have been attending various executive development programmes to improve on my leadership skills. I enjoy working here as there are ample learning opportunities for all of us. Also, the hotel focuses on individualised interactions with guests. We are not given scripts to follow. And that’s great because I can be myself!

What are your goals for the future?

I aspire to be a well respected lecturer in a Culinary School, where I can impart all my skills and knowledge to the students.

NeetaLNeeta Rajinder Kaur is a Guest Services Manager (GSM) at Front Office. Neeta, what is your job like?

As the Guest Services Manager, I am responsible for ensuring that all guests’ enquires/feedback are attended to promptly. In addition, I conduct monthly trainings for my Front Office team members. My job also includes overseeing the hotel’s overall operations in Front Office and Food & Beverage.

What do you enjoy about your job?

Everything under the sun! Everyday is a new challenge and I look forward to it. At RP, it is the people who make a difference!

We are like a big family working together as a team and everyone is always there to lend a helping hand for one another. I enjoy growing with RP and take every learning opportunity to prepare myself for the next step in my career.

What are some highlights in your career?

I have been recognised by the hotel as a high potential employee and was promoted from GRO (Guest Relations Officer) to GSM in a span of three years. I have also handled major projects, implementing procedures to monitor unsettled room accounts, room allowances and OPERA, which contribute to the smooth operation-flow in the hotel.

MAriaLMaria Rocel Aquino Vergara is an Assistant Customer Relations Manager Maria, what is your job like?

I am responsible for the overall operations of the Food & Beverage Reservations Centre, managing a team of CROs (customer relations officer) who handle guests’ requests and feedback.

I first joined RP as a Management Trainee. Over the span of 2 years, I was given opportunities to receive cross-exposure in various positions to hone my skills in other areas. I was promoted to my role last year.

What is it about your job that you enjoy?

Service is my passion and I love meeting different people everyday! It is fulfilling to organise events for guests who are celebrating their special occasions at the F&B outlet. Everyday is a new learning experience for me. I also enjoy the camaraderie that I share with my colleagues. As I live by myself in Singapore, I usually spend my free time hanging out with my colleagues. We are all like one big family now!

What are your goals for the future?

At this present moment, I want to excel in my role and hopefully get a promotion in 2 years’ time!

Abdul Halim Bin Ab Hamid is a Technician I.

Halim,what’s your job like?

My job duties include supporting my supervisor in managing the daily operations and maintenance for all equipments.

Everyday is a new learning experience as all technicians are trained to multi-task instead of being specialised in a certain role.

Despite my short tenure at RP, I have been given opportunities to pick up both technical and generic skills, with the help of my very encouraging supervisor!

Do you enjoy working at RP on Scotts?

Definitely! And I credit this to my great colleagues and not forgetting the excellent benefits provided by the company.

What are your goals for the future?

I hope to grow with the hotel and to take on more responsibilities. Hopefully, in 3 years’ time, I can be promoted to a supervisory position.
