Your new role
This is a newly created position, due to the growth and expansion of the company in the APAC region. Singapore will grow as the regional hub and the company is seeking to find a talented payroll specialist to manage the APAC payroll delivery function and expense accounting operations to ensure that corporate reporting requirements are met, strong internal controls are in place and that continuous improvements in business processes can be made. As the first point of contact with internal customers on payroll and expenses matters, this role will manage workflow for multi-country monthly and ad-hoc payroll processing via vendors, ensuring that payroll payments and reporting are delivered consistently and in accordance with statutory and tax requirements. The role holds responsibility for the full spectrum of payroll and expense functions, including data collections, generating and posting journal entries, performing accounts reconciliations and managing escalations.
Additionally, the role-holder will track KPIs to ensure process improvement opportunities are identified and can be implemented, and also support internal and external audit requirements. You will work cross-functionally with non-finance stakeholders on policies, processes and help drive key payroll and expenses initiatives and best practices. You will also lead or participate in special projects, systems enhancements, ERP implementation or adhoc analyses, such as projects to optimise reporting platforms or processes.
What you'll need to succeed
You will possess a bachelor degree in finance/accounting and will ideally be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years of payroll specialist experience in a fast-paced MNC environment. You will have experience using large scale integrated Payroll/HR systems and ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP. and will have strong Excel skills. Prior Big 4 experience and knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP is preferred. You will be a quick-witted, fast learner with strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills in English.
