The individual will be tasked to primarily generate content for Channel NewsAsia’s digital platforms.
To deliver original news reports on terrorist-related trends and activities in Asia, from home-grown organisations to individuals/groups with links to non-Asian groups. Reporting should also cover what Asian governments are doing to counter the threat, including the effectiveness of intelligence agencies in the region as well as the rehabilitation of those who may have been radicalized. In addition to looking at issues arising from terrorism, the correspondent will need to be able to report on other security developments, such as the threat from cyber-attacks and lone wolf attacks.
Needs to be someone with a strong track record of working in this field. A journalist with a proven ability to deliver original stories in this field is preferred, but the role may also suit someone with in-depth knowledge of the subject such as an analyst or someone who has worked in security. In addition to knowledge of the subject matter, the successful candidate will have a wide network of contacts which can be tapped on to deliver on-the-record interviews and background information. These contacts should include those working on the frontline as well as contributors such as politicians, security officials and analysts. This is not a role for someone to learn the beat on the job. The successful candidate will need deep existing foundations of knowledge and experience.
