Stress is the result from imbalance between demands and resources. Stress occurs to everyone and every day. It is undeniably part of life. Daily things like decisions, responsibilities, rules, changes, family, relationships, illness and money can cause stress.
A small amount of stress can be healthy. It brings about positive forces and motivates you to think and try harder. However, too much stress can cause adverse effects on our mental and physical being. The question is how do we detect and manage overwhelming stress.
On 6 March 2010, 30 participants learnt about the causes and signs of stress from the facilitator, Sandra Sandu-Reeves. The participants also practiced relaxation breathing and positive visualization techniques that made them feel revitalized at the end of the seminar. Sandra also shared with the participants relevant and useful tips on good nutrition that they can apply in their daily lives.
Overall, the Stress and Wellness Management seminar was a great success. And whenever you feel stressed out, just remember the words of our facilitator, Sandra Sandu-Reeves,
"We cannot go on a holiday everyday, but we can make everyday feel like a holiday."
