Sam, what’s your job like?


I currently manage the kitchen at 1 TwentySix and have a stronghold of 9 staff that includes a Sous Chef and Chef de Partie. As Head Chef, I get to create delectable dishes and menu items for our guests to savour.
Before the restaurant opens for dinner every day, I conduct briefings for the kitchen and service team to make sure that they all know our products.

Whenever I come up with new menu items, I usually conduct a food-tasting session for internal staff so that they will be able to give me feedback based on their frontline customer.
 

What do you enjoy about your job?

I have had a passion and interest to become a Chef since I was a young boy and I used to help my mother out in her food business whenever I could. My skills are self-honed and I have had the opportunity to work in various places from five-star hotels to country clubs before I joined 1 TwentySix.

Each day has been a great learning experience for me and I get to work with a close-knit team of really dynamic people. Plus, having a million-dollar view of the sea is a bonus!

 

What are your goals for the future?

I would like to develop and come up with more delicious and exciting dishes for all our guests at 1 TwentySix.

Stanley, what’s your job like?

Events Management is a multi-faceted area of work which I oversee within the 1-Rochester Group and its restaurants. It ranges from doing the physical set-up work, planning and selection of the decorations, and also operational aspects.

I find this line of work really enjoyable as the team is highly supportive of one another and the staff puts in a lot of effort to create a successful and memorable event for our clients.


Our clientele loves to hold important events like weddings, birthdays and corporate functions at our venues because of our unique locations – a garden ambience at One Rochester, a chic beach front location at 1 TwentySix and a cosy pastry bar in the city for 1 Caramel.

As the Events Operation Manager, one of my key roles is to effectively liaise with both our Sales team and the clients to find out what their requirements are for the events and to ensure that everything run smoothly.

 

What do you enjoy about your job?

I feel a great sense of satisfaction whenever clients give us feedback expressing their joy and appreciation for what we have done for them! I have been in the F&B line for over ten years now. And I encourage all jobseekers to consider this industry as a vibrant and rewarding career for themselves as it offers people a multitude of opportunities to learn and grow in.

 

What are your goals for the future?

I hope to continue organising and putting together events that are memorable for all our guests.
