Joe, what inspired you to write your book, ‘The Attractor Factor’?

It's an updated version of my book, Spiritual Marketing. I wrote it for my sister. She was struggling, on welfare, had three kids and no money, job, car, or much hope. I wanted her to know what I had learned about prosperity thinking and right action. After all, I had gone from homeless nobody to bestselling author and occasional movie star. I wrote the book originally as a little book-let only for her.

It transformed her life, got her off welfare, got her a new car, got her a good job, and the word slowly got out about it. I then released it as Spiritual Marketing. After it became a bestseller twice and mentioned in The New York times, a big publisher came to me and offered to publish it on a bigger scale. I then updated the book, expanded it, and turned it into The Attractor Factor. It's my most popular book, and got me into the movie ‘The Secret’.

The current global economic crisis and flu pandemic has made some people very negative in their outlook of life, what advice do you have for them?

Quit watching the news! The media is skilled at finding or creating negative news and feeding it right into your brain. It will create a new "attractor" in your mind and you'll begin to attract the very thing they are warning you about. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I was trained to be a journalist in the 1970s and know the "news" is virtually always bad. The best thing to do is turn it off and focus on what you want. It's a major secret to success, whether wanting a job or better health.

Life is actually wonderful and there are good things and good people everywhere. But you won't know that or think that if you watch the mainstream news. Turn it off.

In your book, ‘The Attractor Factor’, you mentioned that attracting all the positive things that we want in life begins with our mindset and belief. How can we apply the techniques to manifest success at work and in business, specifically?

Easy. Spend time envisioning what you want to do with your life. I'd quit thinking "job" and think "passion." I often ask people key questions to help uncover their passion, such as –

  • "If money weren't the issue, what would you do all day?"

  • "If you won the lotto for millions of dollars, and after you travelled and bought toys, what would you do?"

  • "What did you do for fun as a kid?"

All of this helps point in the direction of the work that is best for you. From there, I'd script the ideal job doing that passion. What does your day look? I'd "Nevillize" it, as I explain in The Attractor Factor, and feel the end result of living your dream job. The more you can step into the finished mental picture, the faster you will materialize the end result of living it.

The stresses and hustle and bustle of modern living has made many people lose touch with their inner sense of balance and connectedness. Can you share some simple techniques for them to regain their holistic self?

You have to make time to relax. Meditate every day. Go to the gym. Sit in a hot tub. Listen to relaxing music. Walk in the woods.

I get in my hot tub almost every night and relax, let go, and give thanks for my life. I was homeless over thirty years ago and today I'm doing fine. The difference in part is doing everything in The Attractor Factor but also making time to feel gratitude for what I have in this moment.

The greatest thing you can do to help yourself and the planet is to reconnect to your source -- which is the source in all of us. It can bring you the treasure you seek. But it begins with relaxing into the moment and feeling gratitude for what you have.
